We are a non-profit organization, founded in 2008. When BARC opened its charity shop in 2012, the organization began to have a regular flow of income to be able dedicate more to caring for animals.
Our goal is to rescue, care for and, finally, find a home for lost, abandoned or abused animals in Busot . In the last six years we have rescued and provided a home for or rehabilitated more than 1,000 animals. WE FOLLOW A POLICY OF “DO NOT KILL”, except by veterinary prescription for humanitarian reasons.
When we rescue a dog🐶, our first task is to check if it is microchipped. If the result is positive, the police can search the registered pet database and find the owner.Unfortunately, 90% of the dogs found do not have a microchip. That is when BARC is called to give our assistance. The dog remains in the police kennel for 24 hours waiting to find its owner. If no one claims it, the dog is taken to one of our vets for a full preliminary examination. What follows is an intense routine of care: medication, vaccination, microchip and passport, as well as sterilisation if necessary. These procedures are essential to guarantee the good health of the animal and to be able to offer it for adoption.
We have our own 10500 sq metres of land, now called BARCLAND Animal refuge and have recently been given a further 3,200 sq metres adjoining land by a generous local Spaniard.
Our followers on our Facebook page and support groups, exceed 7000.
.
Last year we provided help to stray cats🐱 with a program funded in large part by the Busot City Council. From February 2018 to September of that same year, more than 80 cats were collected, taken to the vet and spayed before being released again. BARC has continued to support this initiative by paying for the treatment of more cats.
We often hold charity events in Busot and other nearby towns in order to supplement the income of our store and thus have sufficient funds to cover our current expenses.
The Busot City Council has recognized that we do a great job for the community and supports us with services, facilities and places to hold our events.
We use Facebook and other advertising media to show our animals ready for adoption and to advertise our charity events. Our current number of followers on Facebook exceeds 3,200.
We depend on your charity:
▶ ️ You can donate clothes, furniture and other items that we can sell in our store.
▶ ️You can also make cash donations, as we always need money.
Although we are fortunate to receive discounts on our monthly vet and pet hotel bills, we need to generate significant amounts of money in order to continue our work.
Become a volunteer for our store; volunteer to take in animals temporarily; volunteer to help raise funds; volunteer to take our dogs to the vet for treatment, etc.
We desperately need volunteers for foster care. While the animal is in foster care, BARC will bear all food and veterinary expenses.
We do not pay volunteers! All of us donate our time (and in some cases our homes) altruistically.
